Eastern Garter & DeKay’s Brown Snakes are out

April 10, 2023 Elizabeth

NOTE – All snakes in this post were left in nature unharmed as we found them. Also, all of these snakes are perfectly harmless. Please don’t hurt snakes or tell others to do it! They are an important part of the environment.

Steve spotted 5 total snakes today! We didn’t get all on film but here’s some interesting videos.

One of them was swimming in the swamp! This is a pretty cool video. If you look at the end of the swamp video you can see a trail in the swamp where a 2nd snake had gone through.

Near the foundation, right outside of our side door, Tilda first spotted these DeKay’s brown snakes. There are 2 small ones. Steve could tell from the way Tilda was acting that there were snakes and came and got me to film the video uncovering them (after putting Tilda away). We covered them back up and let them be afterwards.
