Eastern Bluebird visits the bird bath

Eastern Bluebird visits the bird bath

May 19, 2024 Elizabeth

I’m never sure why but we don’t have too many bluebirds around here. Bluebirds are not typical feeder birds – they are insectivores. However, we have robins who eat worms and other bugs, flickers who eat tons of ants, orioles who largely eat bugs (but do come for the jelly & nectar). I’ve tried putting out some mealworms for the bluebirds. I usually catch a glimpse of them now and again and it’s always exciting. I saw one fly across the front yard last week – but it barely stopped! We were outside on Sunday spreading mulch and then I got a notification on my new Birdfy camera and here was the bluebird just on the other side of the house! I was so excited to be able to capture the video but would have loved to see it in person!
