Blue Jays load up on peanuts before the storm

Blue Jays load up on peanuts before the storm

April 16, 2023 Elizabeth

After a week of beautiful sunshine, seasonally warm temperatures and dry skies, things began to turn today. We put the GoPro out for feeder action for just a couple of hours before the storm after filling all the feeders. We have some more footage to put together, but what we noticed was that the blue jays really came in for the peanuts hard!

Here’s an enterprising fellow who manages to take away 2 whole peanuts (each with 2 nuts) in one trip!

I grabbed all of the videos that had a blue jay during a roughly 2 hour filming session before a storm blew in. We probably have 4 – 6 blue jays in the area that pal around so these aren’t likely to all be the same Blue Jay. I think there’s likely 4 different blue jays grabbing seeds during this compilation. Check out how they put one nut into their gullet so they can take away more!
