Spring Day – Robins and Juncos

April 10, 2021 Elizabeth

Around here in Michigan we think of the American Robin as a spring/summer bird and the Dark Eyed Junco as one of our winter birds. So, it struck me as interesting today when I saw juncos and robins both out in the grass finding insects and seed bits. I took all these shots with my regular camera. The situation with the pileated woodpecker has me considering an upgrade, though. But, I feel like I should learn more about using this one first.

Also had a few goldfinches starting to get their summer colors. And, we’ve been seeing more and more mourning doves. Can’t wait for some of our other friends to come back! We put out the hummingbird feeder today just in case (banana one, not the nectar one)

I went to Dotty’s Pet Store in Clio, MI today as well to stock up on seed. I got safflower and peanuts in the shell to add to the mix on the bird photo booth and see if we can attract male cardinals or maybe blue jays to it. I put it out today and later when the rain starts, I’ll go pull it and see who came to visit. Stay tuned!
