We went to the Michigan Barn Hunt Club trial in Howell today. This was Halloween themed. We have been training at this facility with Karli and so Tilda is feeling comfortable here. This was our first of many trials we hope!
Here’s our first instinct run at a trial. I honestly had no idea what to expect of her exactly, but I thought she’d be more interested in the tubes! She was really interested in the surroundings and seeing the people and checking the whole area out. She didn’t give me a whole lot to go on, but she’s always gone directly to the rat in practice so I just went with her first instinct. That’s why they call it instinct!
Here’s our first novice run at a trial. You can see she’s a little all over the place. I do not remember now where the rat was.
You can see her tail in this run, is more up and she’s feeling a little more confident and a bit less hesitant. When her tail is up, that’s good! But, she was still really distracted by sounds and sights. She’s doing too much with her ears here than her nose.
After our trial, we went to a nearby Cider Mill and enjoyed this view!
