Monarch Caterpillar becomes Chrysalis!

Monarch Caterpillar becomes Chrysalis!

July 29, 2023 Elizabeth

This is the moment we’ve been waiting and waiting to see! If you’ll remember we’ve tried capturing this on video and in time lapse photos and have missed it every time. We were out today just looking for caterpillars and happened to see this one actually forming the chrysalis. This is the first time I’ve seen this live and in person and it was SO COOL. This video is about 3 minutes and 35 seconds. I have not sped it up in any way. Based upon our previous attempts at video and time lapse photo we knew it happened in under the span of 5 minutes. It is really just so amazing to witness. One of the coolest things I’ve ever seen honestly. A world of amazement under the leaves of a flower bed.
