So, I’ve been reluctant to share all of this as I feel like a chunk of my life for the last year has been filled with sad dog sickness stories. But, I need to document what is going on with Chip and people will ask, so here goes.
Chip is quite sick. He’s been on medication for a couple of weeks and is not getting better and instead is getting worse. Here’s a timeline of his illness, tests, and medications that I’ve put together to keep track of what has happened with Chip. I spelled the name of the medication for his gall bladder wrong. It is Ursodiol.
We are currently in a watch and wait and see. If you are the praying type, please pray that Chip’s infection responds to the Baytril. It is one of the strongest antibiotics that he can be given and we aren’t sure what other options there are if his infection doesn’t respond to this. Also, fun fact, the sheath of a dog’s penis is technically called a prepuce (it’s basically a doggy foreskin), but I didn’t know that word and didn’t know if my readers would. I’m actually quite sorry to have had to learn that new word.
He’s still very much Chip & he’s accepting visitors. He still has his appetite and he still loves carrots. We are trying not to do too much worrying at home around him and instead put on a positive, hopeful face for Chip, so if you see Chip, give him a smile and tell him that he’s a strong fighter and that he can beat this infection.
