The last time I blogged was in May of 2024. That was a lifetime ago it feels like. I keep wanting to restart, but it seems impossible to fill in these last couple of years and I don’t know what to say. I’d love to add all of our cool nature photos – and I might someday, but for the meantime, I’m just restarting.
So – the last 2 years. Duke died. My mom died. A kidney stone tried to kill me. My youngest brother died at age 18. Cyber attacks & bot attacks. Disconnected from church. Lost friends. So much grief.

And yet. In the midst of tragedy, there was joy and much to be thankful for. Another brother got married. We adopted Buttercup. We made a lot of home improvements – fenced in our backyard, built a bunch of new flower beds, built a deck. Getting healthier. We took some fun trips.
We grew. We changed.
The only constant thing it seems is change.
What’s new in the yard right now? Well, it’s November 4th and it’s been 70 degrees and dry outside for the last week or so. Our marigolds, zinnias, impatiens, wild petunia and morning glory are somehow still blooming. We saw bees out today! We saw a toad on October 29th. What a crazy weather season we are having.

What comes next? Well we are hoping to start sharing some of our photos and observations from the yard. We’ve been taking photos and observing our yard, just not documenting here. It’s brought me a lot of peace in a season of deep grief. I’m not making promises though. I also might neglect this blog for another 2 years and not post anything.
Stay tuned to see which is which. Sign up and get an email when we eventually post something new. Thanks for caring. About us and about nature.
